Career

Zajić came from the youth teams of his hometown club FK Napredak Kruševac. He was only 18 when he debuted for the clubs first team, competing in the top league. He played three seasons as senior there and became the clubs leader in the midfield. In 2001 he continues his career in Belgrade's FK Obilić, which, three years before, were the 1997-98 First League of FR Yugoslavia Champions. With them he plays an impressive 109 top league matches, scoring a total of 10 league goals. When the club fell into a deep financial and results crisis in 2005 he moved, in the second half of the 2005-06 season, to another Belgrade based club, the historic BASK. Despite everything, he continued displaying great performance there and, after only that half season, received a call to move to the best Serbian club in this period, FK Partizan. Unexpectedly, that season was turbulent for the club, because of the complete disagreement that existed between the fans and the club dirigents, that resulted in the fans boycotting the matches. But he did not allow that to affect him and, with his character and his exhibitions, won the hearts of those very fans. After that season, foreign interest around him grow, and, after a three months trial, he signed with the ambitious 2005 Norway's Champion, Vålerenga, where he plays since 2007.

National team

While he was still the leader of FK Obilić´s midfield, he received a call-up by head coach Ilija Petković to travel, in July 2004, to Japan to represent the Serbia and Montenegro national team in the Kirin Cup that year. The tournament is usually used by national team managers as a chance to experiment with other players beside the ones used in official matches, so Zajić ended playing one match, against Slovakia, a 2-0 win. Despite having caused good impression, because of the enormous competition existing in his position, he would not get another chance until December 14, 2008, for, now Radomir Antić´s Serbia, in a friendly in Cyprus, against Poland, a 0-1 defeat. He totalizes two national team caps, and is still a choice.[1]
